February 2017 — Work is scheduled to commence this spring on delivering much-needed amenities to Balsam Mountain, which will not only enhance our own enjoyment of the mountain, but make Balsam more competitive with other mountain communities in attracting new homebuyers—which in turn enhances our property values.
A fiber optic system to Balsam Mountain Preserve is already underway. The first phase of fiber installation will be to the Double Top Village area, the Ruby Valley Health and Wellness Center, the Boarding House and the Sales office. This work is planned for summer of this year. Residences along the path of this first phase will be contacted in the spring to discuss connection and plan costs. As plans develop we will keep the community informed of timing for additional phases of fiber installation.
The next major improvement will be the Ruby Valley Sports & Wellness Center, which will be expanded to include a larger workout room, additional free weights and cardio equipment, and a motion studio for yoga and spin classes. Later phases of expansion—which will be made possible with additional club
memberships—will feature spa treatment rooms and a relaxation garden, a poolside bar with food service, and a new kids’ pool and a play area for children and grandchildren.
On the site of the current driving range will be the Double Top Village, a grouping of stunning club facilities. At the center of the Village will be the Members’ Grille, a wine room, a private dining room, and an expansive terrace for outdoor dining overlooking the golf course, valleys and mountains beyond. Across the courtyard will be the Club Tavern featuring a demonstration kitchen for culinary events, offering casual indoor and outdoor service.
A trellised walkway leads past a fire pit and across the Great Lawn to the General Store and Golf House, where members can enjoy a morning coffee, collect mail, or begin course play.
