Site Map - Amenities/Trails
One of the greatest pleasures at Balsam Mountain Preserve may be exploring the Preserve itself. Private and remote, Balsam Mountain Preserve weaves the beauty and discoveries of its natural surroundings into every activity, every day. Pristine forests, crisp air and a commitment to preservation make this community not only unique but exciting and enjoyable as well.Since elevations range from 2,600 to over 5,500 feet, the 50 miles of hiking or riding trails - most hewn in the wake of old logging roads - promise a few challenges and plenty of panoramic views. With 38 miles of streams, seeking out native brook trout is another perpetually enjoyable pastime, as is seeking out the best fishing holes.
The Ruby Valley Sports Camp offers fitness facilities, tennis and swimming - in short, something for everyone. The new Nature Center holds a valuable trove of information about the mountain's flora and fauna, along with a full-time staff ready to provide even more information. And more amenities are underway with the construction of the new stables and the Arnold Palmer 18-hole signature golf course, which is nearly ready for play. Comfortable, cozy rooms at the Boarding House are not only a great way to enjoy all that Balsam Mountain Preserve offers, but promise both excellent dining and a warm welcome as well.
