“Perhaps the most challenging question about the new Balsam Mountain Preserve golf course, located six miles outside Sylva and about 4,000 feet above sea level, is how best to describe it. Spectacular comes to mind”. Ron Green Jr., Golf Writer, Charlotte Observer
"Balsam Mountain Preserve is one of the best mountain golf courses I have ever played. Arnold Palmer has created a masterpiece and the views and vistas are simple stunning." Larry Rinker, PGA Tour veteran, Champions Tour member

Just as Balsam Mountain Preserve has set a new standard in private mountain living, our Arnold Palmer Signature course is setting a new standard for mountain golf.
When we set out to create this course, our goal was to build a course that does justice to both the sweeping mountain views that provide the majestic setting for daily life here and to the playability that defines a truly great course. That's why we turned to the golf architects at Arnold Palmer Course Design, a company with a 40-year relationship with Chaffin/Light Associates, the developers of Balsam Mountain Preserve.

At its core, our new golf course rests on Mr. Palmer's belief that a course must be both truly beautiful and must serve the game of golf in its purest form. By adhering to these two tenets of design, the end result is a mountain golf course in a class of its own.
At elevations reaching 3,700 feet, the course rewards the senses with stunning scenery in seemingly every direction. The design and slope of the course allows players to see every shot and provides generous landing areas, making it a pleasure to play regardless of the golfer's skill level. Head pro Brian Chapman declares golfers will use every club in their bag during their round. Learn more about Brian and his team.
