For families who prefer not to design and build their new mountain home, Balsam Mountain Preserve makes the process easy and enjoyable.  Buyers may choose one of our Featured Builder homes (either under construction or completed), which have been crafted by some of western North Carolina's finest builders, or they may select from a special collection of private owner resales. 

Homes available for purchase start at $1,100,000 and range to over $2,000,000. 

The Balsam Mountain Preserve Habitat Review Board ensures that homes are designed and built according to guidelines that minimize impact and disturbance to the land while helping to protect future property values.

This is not a "themed" neighborhood where families are forced to build a particular style of home.  There are currently over 60 homes either completed or under construction on the Preserve, and buyers will be pleased by the wide variety of designs that are available for purchase.  From small, intimate cabins, to mountain contemporary, to mountain rustic, there are homes here that fit the lifestyle of every family searching for the perfect mountain retreat.
